Training
This program represents the first cooperative program between Washington State University and the University of Idaho meeting joint objectives of community service, collaborative research, and interdisciplinary training. Annually, we fund five graduate students, three of which are counseling psychology students, one pre-doctoral intern and one post-doctoral fellow. Each student receives four hours of weekly supervision, access to journals, computer search capability, other training material, an updated library of testing materials, and excellent resources for a variety of empirically supported treatment modalities. The students carry caseloads ranging from 6 to 10 usually challenging clients from a diverse population (relative to the community). Students are paid a stipend of $1600 with a two year commitment.

Working closely with clinical faculty is only one aspect of the intimate learning environment at CYSC.
Doctoral and post-doctoral training experiences are supported with the following:
Large and comprehensive library of testing resources (number over 100 tests for learning disabilities, behavioral scales, objective personality assessments, IQ test, developmental screening, neuropsychological testing, computer assisted assessments, and other clinical scales)
Four hours of weekly supervision (one hour individual and 3 hours of group supervision).
Videotape and two-way mirror session observations for both student and faculty observation.
Two large full-text journal search engines
Peer mentoring with advanced student roles in videotape review, supervisory assistance, and on site collaborations/assistance.
Computer generated treatment planning and case management program.
State of the art facility
Diverse and challenging caseloads (usually 7 to 10 clients each – children, adolescents, and adults)
Other training opportunities in collaboration with Utah State University LEND program.
Specialty training in anxiety, autism, disruptive behavioral disorders, and parent effectiveness training
